This is a quick use handout • I highly recommend looking at the manual to see all of the features that this camera has! • I also recommend reviewing the “Read This First” booklet (blue booklet) for a quick overview of the basics This is your navigation area - it has up, down, right, left buttons that also perform other functions as well Batteries This camera uses 2 AA batteries. It comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. If taking on a field trip, you might want to have an extra set of AA batteries on hand…just in case – Make sure the batteries are Alkaline • It is best to recharge batteries when they are completely used up – Recharging before the using up the existing charge can shorten the life of the battery • Battery life is shortened in cold temperatures. – Don’t leave your camera or batteries in the car/outside during cold (or hot) weather Using the LCD display and other features will use more battery power The battery indicator on the display shows how much battery power is remaining If camera will not be used for an extended period of time – Remove the batteries and store in the plastic case supplied Full recharge time of completely “used” batteries – 6 hours Average battery life 200 minutes –
Varies depending on features used • Flash • Zoom/Wide Angle • Viewing – Alkaline batteries may have shorter life • You can use the LCD display or the viewfinder when taking pictures • Turning off the LCD will help conserve battery power • Pressing the |?| button on the camera will take you thru 4 views – Indicators on (default) – Histogram/indicators on – No indicators – Blank screen LCD display Picture Quality • 5 settings for picture quality – 5.1 MP for best quality when printing 8×10 – 3.2 MP – 3 MP – 1 MP – good quality for 4 x 6 prints – VGA – best for email, web pages and getting the most images on the memory stick Storage Medium • This camera has 32MB of internal memory, but… • Use the 64MB Memory Stick (to store images). The lower the MP setting, the more pictures you can get on the stick. • At Fine setting (which gives you better print/shoot quality) on a 32MB stick. A 64MB stick should give you double what is shown here – VGA – 394 images 1M – 101 images 3M – 41 images 3.2M - 32 images 5M - 25 images Remove/insert memory stick • The slot for the memory stick is located in the compartment on the bottom where the batteries are located • Lexar memory sticks have a “lock” slide on the opposite side – If Locked(you will see red) you cannot take/delete pictures • Always turn off the camera before removing the memory stick (or changing batteries) – See next slide
